Heating Options

Option 2: Temperature-Controlled Electric Kettle

Many electric kettles, such as those made by Cuisinart, allow you to set and maintain a specific water temperature. This is an excellent option for home brewing smaller batches.


Method 1: Sous Vide Brewing

Step 1: Fill Your Container

Add your desired amount of water to a heat-safe container.

Step 2: Set Temperature

Set your sous vide machine to 165°F to 175°F(74°C).

Step 3: Measure the Leaf

Weigh your kratom leaf using the ratio above.

Step 4: Load the Brew Bag

Place the leaf into a 75-micron brew bag and secure the top.

Step 5: Submerge and Clip

Place the bag in the water and clip it to the side of the container.

Step 6: Brew

Once the water reaches 165°F, brew for 1.5 hours.

Every 20–30 minutes, gently move or press the bag to improve extraction.

Step 7: Drain

Remove the bag and allow it to drain. Gently squeeze to recover additional liquid.


Method 2: Temperature-Controlled Kettle Brewing

Perfect for brewing a single serving or small batch.

Step 1: Fill the Kettle

Add your desired amount of water.

Step 2: Set Temperature

Set the kettle to 165°F to 175°F(74°C).

Step 3: Add the Brew Bag

Place the measured kratom leaf into a 75-micron bag.

Step 4: Steep

Once the water reaches temperature, place the bag into the hot water.

Steep for 60–90 minutes.

Every 15–20 minutes, gently stir or press the bag.

Step 5: Remove the Bag

Remove the bag and allow it to drain.

Step 6: Press

Gently squeeze the bag to recover any remaining tea.


Finishing the Tea

Add Lemon Juice

After brewing is complete, add:

0.5 oz lemon juice per 12 oz of tea

or

5–6 oz lemon juice per gallon

Stir thoroughly.

The lemon juice brightens the flavor and lowers the pH of the finished tea.


Storage

Transfer the tea to a clean, sealed container and refrigerate immediately.

Refrigerated Shelf Life

5–7 days

For the best flavor, consume within the first few days.
